Final Quitovac Drill Results

 Press Release No. 17/2004

Vancouver, BC, July 9, 2004. Copper Ridge Explorations Inc. ("Copper Ridge") reports that it has received the results of the last 7 holes of its recently completed 13 hole, 1154 m core drill program on the Quitovac Property in Sonora State, Mexico. The Quitovac deposit is similar to the nearby La Choya heap leach mine that profitably produced over 300,000 ounces of gold for Hecla Mining during the period 1994 to 1999. It also has similarities to a number of other nearby fault associated gold deposits such as La Herradura (Newmont and Peñoles - 145,000 ounces of gold produced in 2002) and El Chanate deposits in Sonora and the Mesquite, Picacho and American Girl deposits in the adjacent United States.

As previously announced on June 11, 2004, the purpose of the program was to provide confirmation of reverse circulation drill results by previous operators (Peñoles, Santa Cruz) as well as to test for continuation and extension of the mineralized zones. While the core drilling conducted by Copper Ridge consistently encountered quartz veining and silicified material where expected and over thicknesses anticipated, there was an apparent extreme loss of gold due to highly broken ground and very poor core recoveries, often less than 50%. This has resulted in what appears to be a significant understating of the gold values from the core drilling program.

Gerald G. Carlson, President & CEO of Copper Ridge, stated, "We believe that the previous reverse circulation drill results, by two different companies, more accurately reflect true gold values of the property, although this can only be confirmed by a new drill program using reverse circulation drill equipment." The Company will work with its consultants and continue to study the core results and conduct additional sampling in an effort to more fully understand the nature of the sampling problem.

As an example of the lack of correlation between the core and RC drill programs, core hole QDD-07 (see Summary Results Table, appended) was drilled on section between holes QIC-13 and QIC-14 drilled previously by Santa Cruz. RC hole QIC-13 intersected 10.63 m of 11.29 g/t Au and RC hole QIC-14, 25 m to the north-east, intersected 12.14 m of 18.42 g/t Au. While QDD-07 intersected significant silicification and quartz veining in the expected mineralized interval, it returned only 0.74 to 2.0 gpt Au over 1 m intervals, significantly lower than the Santa Cruz drill results.

Holes QDD-11, 12 and 13 were step-out holes from the known higher grade core of the Quitovac deposit. While all three holes encountered quartz veining and apparent mineralized sections, only hole QDD-13 had significant gold values.

The gold in these structurally controlled, oxidized gold deposits of northern Sonora often occurs as fine grains that are loosely bound on the surface of secondary iron oxide minerals along fractures and in open spaces in the rock. It is possible that the high water pressure combined with grinding at the drill bit has washed the gold out of the core during the drilling process.

Drilling on the Quitovac Project was performed by Boytec Sondajes de Mexico, geological contracting was carried out by JRM Consultores of Hermosillo and analytical work is being done by ALS Chemex. The project is being supervised by J. Greg Dawson, P.Geo, the Company's Qualified Person.

Copper Ridge has been highly successful in securing twelve large-scale, early-stage gold and copper properties in the Yukon, Alaska, British Columbia and Mexico. This strategy enables Copper Ridge to minimize risk and financial exposure while maximizing the chances for exploration success and freeing up resources to seek out prime new acquisitions. Copper Ridge is well financed and is currently involved in another busy field season on its Northern properties.
